Wine and culture
For the amateurs of heritage, 997 historic monuments await for you in Gironde. Let yourself be surprise by the grimace of a mascaron, move yourself in front of the grace of a Roman marquee … and fall under the spell of the fair stone.
Gallo-Roman remains, medieval fortresses and 18th century wine-growing castles cohabit with more contemporary works.
And there is not a corner of Gironde that does not hide a small treasure…
The must-see attractions of Gironde’s heritage : the Grand Théâtre and the Place de la Bourse in Bordeaux, the monolithic church of Saint-Emilion, the lighthouse of Cordouan, the citadel of Blaye, the castles of Roquetaillade, Cazeneuve, Vayres… without forgetting the old bastides and villages of Rions, La Réole, Saint-Macaire, Castelmoron d’Albret and the family residences of Montesquieu, Toulouse-Lautrec and François Mauriac.
In partnership with the Faculty of History and Archaeology of Bordeaux, we offer discovery days on the theme of culture and wine. Accompanied by a specialist, you will be guided for a day to historical and archaeological sites, discovering vineyards and tastings.
